the blanket size
The Warm Heart Blanket is 1.1m (1.2yd) x 1.1m (1.2yd) square – it’s perfect for snuggling up on the lounge with. Because of the weight and stretchiness of this blanket and your unique crocheting style, the size and gauge are indicative – it’s handy to measure your blanket as you’re making it to check it’s the size that you want and I’ll show you how to do this in the video tutorials.
It’s time to start filling in your Progress Worksheet! Go to “the blanket size I’m making” and fill in the width and height with the info up above.
want to make a different size?
Here are a few different ways to change the size of your Warm Heart Blanket:
- increase or decrease the number of stitches in the foundation chain to change the length, or
- increase or decrease the number of rows to change the height, or
- change the size of your yarn and/or use a different sized crochet hook to change both the height and length.
If you’re brand new to crocheting then I recommend making the blanket with the number of stitches and rows in the patterns, otherwise it might get a bit confusing.
pattern gauge / tension:
- 5.5 stitches in 20cm (7.9in)
- 2.2 x 2 row repeats in 20cm (7.9in)
You’ll see the gauge / tension in every good crochet pattern and it helps with making sure your finished item is the same size as the design. You’ll learn more about this later on in your crocheting journey.
